salvation

the gospel of jesus christ

This is the backbone of what Christians believe and what sets Christianity apart from all other faiths and belief systems. 'Gospel' means 'Good news'

The Problem

We all do, say and think wrong things. This is what the bible calls "sin" and it is not how God made us. The first man Adam introduced sin and it is something we inherit from our parents. It separates us from a relationship with God and is the reason we all die. In fact the bible describes it like this.... Romans 5:12, Isaiah 59:2,

Sin needs to be paid for and the price is death, unfortunately. Romans 6:23 We are all sentenced to death.

The Solution

Thankfully Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Romans 5:8. This means my sins, yours and everyone in the world. John 3:16. How can one man pay the price for the sins of everyone in the world?... It's because Jesus is God. 2 Corinthians 5:19, Colossians 2:9. Only God can pay that kind of price. He did it because he loves us and wants us to be restored to a relationship with him, Colossians 1:21-22 and He want us to live. Matthew 18:11, Jesus says.. John 6:51

How We Get It

How do we get this everlasting life and a restored relationship with the creator of the universe?

It's by what the Bible calls "repentance" and "faith". Repentance means 'to turn'. So we need to turn and move away from the things we know are wrong in our lives and turn and move towards our relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Acts 3:19, Ephesians 5:8, James 4:8, Hebrews 10:22

Having put our trust or faith in God, we can receive the Holy Spirit, who indwells us and empowers us to live a new life. Ephesians 1:13-14, Acts 2:38

The christian walk

faith in practice

It's great that we can have salvation through believing in Jesus Christ, but what else?

Scripture

The Bible

Fortunately God has left us a book of instructions. By reading and applying it we can further discover our new life with Him. 2 Timothy 3:16-17. The Bible explains to us the nature of God. The more that we can understand who He really is and what He has done, the more we want to worship Him.

Authority

God

God made everything, so He owns it, so He makes the rules. Exodus 20:11, Romans 1:20, God sees everything, everywhere, all of the time. Even our thoughts. There is no escaping Him. Proverbs 15:3, Being the creator God has limitless power and He understands everything. Psalm 147:5, God is self existing, meaning He always has been and always will be and nothing created Him, therefore there is no-one higher. Isaiah 46:9-10, Psalm 90:2, Finally, God is Love, so although He is awesome and a bit scary, There is no need for us to be afraid, because His love causes Him to be forgiving, merciful, patient and kind. 1 John 4:8

Transformation

Worship

Selfishness is bad for us and God knows this. That's why it's good for us to worship Him by living our life for Him. It's how we are designed. We are naturally selfish though, so we need to be transformed. Romans 12:1-2. People will always disappoint and let us down, but God is always faithful and never will. 2 Timothy 2:11-13, Exodus 34: 6,7. We can avoid disappointment by serving Him with our lives, rather than ourselves. God wants us to serve and help others also, but if we do it for him, then we won't be let down by any negative response of the person we are helping. Colossians 3:17.

Love

Service

What does God want us to do? Fellowship with other believers is the key. Hebrews 10:24,25. 1 Thessalonians 5:11. Everything that we do in service to God must come from Love and never out of a sense of duty or obligation. 1 John 4:7-8. 1 John 4:19. Also God helps us to serve Him and others through His Holy Spirit that He gives us. This is how He changes us from the inside. His desires become ours. Galatians 5:22-23, We need to walk closely with God in order to hear His voice and know His will for us. John 15:5
